Our Super Game Designer Jani has been working in the game industry since 1993. During that time he has seen the evolution from the Amiga computers to social gaming. Jani is a self-educated games professional with a broad experience in the field, and the work continues still: “The gaming industry is always on the move and all the new things make my work interesting so it’s practically impossible to get stuck or bored. The constant development and progress keep me going. For example, the casual and social gaming genre is a relatively new phenomena.”
Previously Jani has worked at Grey Area, Mr.Goodliving, Wireless Services Europe and Spring Toys, among others. “My work as a game designer is mostly about creative thinking and planning. In short, I formulate different game elements, write down the ideas and communicate them to the rest of the development team. In addition to the creative work, my job is to analyze the game balance which requires mathematical skills.”
Why Grand Cru and The Supernauts?
“Our game development team consists of highly skilled game professionals who have years of experience. Yet, we all want to learn more and get better in what we do. The great thing is that I can share this objective with my collegues.”
The Supernauts will be launched on iOS platform which means heavy competition. “The amount of games has increased enormously during the recent years. You really have to work hard to differentiate your game from the masses. What is great about The Supernauts is that it’s a new type of game for the casual audience with excellent graphics, unique style of creativity and players can create their own in-game content.”
What games do you play in your free time?
“I’m a fan of traditional skill based games: car racing, flight simulators – such as Gran Turismo, IL2-Sturmovik – and pinball. Zen Pinball 2 is one my recent favorites. Even though the learning curve is steep, your time investment pays of as your skills improve and the games on next gen hardware utilize the same mechanics but look and feel even better.”
